Employee Spotlight: Florence Kehinde

My name is Florence Kehinde and I am originally from Nigeria. I moved to RI in February 2016 after I retired from being a kindergarten teacher for 35 years. I have 5 children and 11 grandchildren where some are here in RI but most are back in Nigeria.

How did you break into the culinary field?
I was looking for a more stable job when a friend told me about the opportunity at Snapchef. I was not in the culinary field but like to cook at home. Working at Snapchef is how I broke into the culinary field.

What is the best thing you have learned on the job?
The best thing that I have learned is how to work well with others and how to treat everyone fairly.

What is your favorite thing about work?
My favorite thing about this job is that there is no discrimination. Everyone is treated fairly and the same. The managers are very friendly and are there for you should you have any problems and they do not make you feel as though you are a bother. I also like the job assignments that I have been placed to work.

What is your favorite meal to make at home?
My favorite meal to cook is a African soup that I make with okra and yam which is my favorite vegetable.
