What experience in your life led to you interested in food and cooking?

Finding out about Snapchef and the program and opportunities they offer.

Describe the moment when you decided that you wanted to pursue a career in the culinary field.

I was walking by the office and saw one of the Snapchef signs. I stopped in to talk to the manager and was instantly interested. Management explained what they do and how they can help me get into a kitchen and teach the fundamentals to begin a culinary career.

What challenges have you faced – and what obstacles have you had to overcome – to purse your career in the culinary field?

Doing dishes. Each location is different. My first job with Snapchef was dishes. Very small location. I didn’t realize how difficult it is to get a motion and keep it going in order to stay organized and get the job finished.

How have friends and family reacted to your career choice?

Very supportive. They enjoy the fact that I have found something that fits me, and that I have fun at.

What do you like most about working in a professional kitchen?

Working with chefs who have done and are doing new and different things everyday to ensure a consistent flow of variety. Ability to meet learn from those different chefs who have learned from other chefs before them.

What’s your favorite comfort food?

Fried chicken. This can be done many ways. No matter which way, it is always a great choice.

What is your favorite thing about working at Snapchef?

The people I work with. Each and every one of them is eager to learn and ready to help in any way, shape or form. We are all part of a team, and it shows!

What is your advice to those interested in pursuing a career in the culinary field?
