What experience in your life led to you interested in food and cooking?

I saw a job opening at Providence College and started as a cashier and then they asked me if I was interested in making pizza and working in the deli. After that, I kept moving up from there and continued to learn new skills and loved every minute.

Describe the moment when you decided that you wanted to pursue a career in the culinary field.

Once I know I was enjoying cooking and got the floating position at Providence College, I really started to enjoy the responsibility. That feeling made me want more.

What challenges have you faced – and what obstacles have you had to overcome – to pursue your career in the culinary field?

Having no training or schooling in the field was a big obstacle at first. But being able to learn the trade from scratch also helped me appreciate the business even more.

How have friends and family reacted to your career choice?

I was actually working with my mom at Providence College and she loves it. Now my brother works there as well. We are a cooking family.

What do you like most about working in a professional kitchen?

It is always busy and there is always something to do. I love being busy. I like being able to do different things at once as well and being able to multi-task. I love the kitchen atmosphere as well.

What’s your favorite comfort food?

My go-to comfort food has to be either pasta or steak.

What is your favorite thing about working at Snapchef?

I enjoy being able to go to different locations and not having to be in one spot. Everyone is really friendly as well.

What is your advice to those interested in pursuing a career in the culinary field?

Focus on one thing at a time and do not try to do too much at once when you are first starting out. Additionally, you should always have a great attitude and if you have a sense of humor, it will always get you through a busy day.

What is your advice to those interested in pursuing a career in the culinary field?

Besides cooking, I knit and love doing arts and crafts with my children. I also love to binge watch Netflix.
