What experience in your life led to you interested in food and cooking?

When I was a little girl, I would cook a lot with my sisters. We would make a little fire outside where we would cook rice, beans, and meat for my mother. It was a great way for me to catch up with my sisters about their days.

Describe the moment when you decided that you wanted to pursue a career in the culinary field.

Matt, my former boss,  taught me a lot in the kitchen. He was the first person to provide me with the opportunity to cook in his kitchen. It started off as soups and eventually, he had me cooking breakfast and lunch.

What challenges have you faced – and what obstacles have you had to overcome – to pursue your career in the culinary field?

Being an immigrant from Brazil, my English was never the best. But with Snapchef giving me this great opportunity, I have been able to improve my English alongside my cooking skills.

How have friends and family reacted to your career choice?

They are very happy for me and proud of me. Whenever we have family parties, I always become the chef of the party. I love cooking for my family because nothing can beat the smiles on their face when I make my famous Feijoada.

What do you like most about working in a professional kitchen?

I like creating menus and recipes. Working in the kitchen allows me to share part of my culture with a variety of people.

What’s your favorite comfort food?

My favorite comfort food is Feijoada.

What is your favorite thing about working at Snapchef?

Snapchef is the best company I have worked for. Todd is the type of boss who is always accessible which allows me to propose ideas in the different kitchens.

What is your advice to those interested in pursuing a career in the culinary field?

Go for it. Don’t be afraid to try new things. I learned to cook as a kid through trial and error. As long as you enjoy cooking you will be successful.

Besides cooking, what other hobbies do you have?

In my free time, I love to go to the beach and go on trips to Hampton Beach and across New England.
