What experience in your life led to you interested in food and cooking?

I grew up in a family of cooks, between my mother and my grandmother I was always surrounded with the smell of a home made meal. For us family time was in a kitchen around a stove.

Describe the moment when you decided that you wanted to pursue a career in the culinary field.

I was young when I chose the life in the culinary world. I learned that in my family food mattered. It was important for me to learn techniques that my grandmother showed me to participate with our daily tasks. During that time, we spoke about friends, family, and anything else she saw fit. For me at that time it was more about the food than the memories. Reflecting back, it’s the other way around.

What challenges have you faced – and what obstacles have you had to overcome – to purse your career in the culinary field?

I have had to face obstacles that anyone shouldn’t have to in the kitchen. I had a hard time fitting in at past jobs, and finding a job that was willing to invest time into me. Here at Snapchef the chef’s I work with are willing to invest time in me, which inspires me to challenge myself.

How have friends and family reacted to your career choice?

My friends and family were torn when I spoke about pursuing a career in the culinary field. They wanted me to find a job that was financially beneficial for me, they felt that working in this field I wouldn’t make enough money.

What do you like most about working in a professional kitchen?

I love that I can work with all types of equipment.

What’s your favorite comfort food?

I love Spanish food, rice and beans.

What is your favorite thing about working at Snapchef?

Snapchef is really supportive, they have helped me grow since I have started here and they are always presenting me with a challenge to further myself.

What is your advice to those interested in pursuing a career in the culinary field?

Start with a company like Snapchef. They support you and help guide you in the right direction.
