What experience in your life has led to your interest in food and cooking?
I have always loved to eat but I was never able to make anything besides microwaveable food or ramen. I wanted to learn how to cook more and make a career out of it.
Describe the moment when you decided that you wanted to pursue a career in the culinary field.
I thought to myself that I needed a job and always enjoyed eating. I felt joining Snapchef was a good way to combine my love of food with a great career.
What challenges have you faced – and what obstacles have you had to overcome – to pursue your career in the culinary field?
After having a couple of family members pass away, it was difficult at times to always remain focused. But with the support from the Snapchef staff and friends I have been able to grow in the kitchen.
How have friends and family reacted to your career choice?
My friends and family are very happy to see me succeeding in a field I am passionate about.
What do you like most about working in a professional kitchen?
I like how I can continue to learn on the job while earning money as well as how I am respected by others in the kitchen. It is also nice that I don’t have to make a lot of ramen.
What’s your favorite comfort food?
My comfort food is a bacon cheeseburger.
What is your favorite thing about working at Snapchef?
My favorite thing about working at Snapchef is the atmosphere. I love how when I go to the office or a function, it feels like we are a family.
What is your advice to those interested in pursuing a career in the culinary field?
The best advice I can give to anyone is to stop, think, and then act. It is an awesome field to work in, especially if you like food.
What are some of your other hobbies outside of cooking?
When I am not in the kitchen, I enjoy hanging out with dogs, drawing, and even cooking for my friends.
