Name: Kevin Towle

Date: July 6th, 2018
Position: Cook

What experience in your life led to you interested in food and cooking?

I come from a family of chefs. As a child I was lucky enough to spend time with my aunt who owns her own catering company. My love for cooking comes from within. I love the fast pace, the atmosphere, and the ability to shift gears.

Describe the moment when you decided that you wanted to pursue a career in the culinary field.

I was in high school the moment I realized that this was a paying passion. I wasn’t in the Culinary Arts program, but I saw the food and the kitchen and realized that I shouldn’t be a electrician. I was meant to be a cook.

What challenges have you faced – and what obstacles have you had to overcome – to purse your career in the culinary field?

I have overcome many struggles in my personal life. All of which I used as a learning experience for myself. I started out at fast food chains, working with customers in a non-creative environment. Knowing that I had to push myself further I began working here at Snapchef.

How have friends and family reacted to your career choice?

My family and friends love that I cook!
They support me in any way that they can. They support my choices every step of the way.

What do you like most about working in a professional kitchen?

I love that there is always something for me to learn. The collaboration of different styles and techniques that create a team.

What’s your favorite comfort food?

That one is easy pasta!!!

What is your favorite thing about working at Snapchef?

The fact that I can go to different kitchens and work in a variety of environments. I want to be able to carry it all with me.

What is your advice to those interested in pursuing a career in the culinary field?

Make sure that you have thick skin, and an open mind. The best way I can put it is that you need to prove yourself to move through the ranks.

Kevin is a not only a hard-working person, but he is also kind. Here at Snapchef I could see Kevin grow during the year that he has been with us. I enjoy his energy and his positive attitude. Kevin and I were able to work at Fenway Park on June 29th, and cater to Pedro Martinez in the VIP lounge. I am so happy to have him as part of our team and I look forward to having him be an apprentice with us here in Worcester office.
