What experience in your life led to your interest in food and cooking?
When I started stocking stocking \ goods at B.M.C, I came to find out that position was no longer going to be available, so I was put into a deli position. The change forced me to learn a lot of things, sometimes on my own. I did whatever I could to keep my job for stability. I started off each day ready for any obstacle and my time at the deli station unlocked a place in my hear for food and cooking.
Describe the moment when you decided that you wanted to pursue a career in the culinary field.
When I first started out in the culinary field, I wasn’t interested in pursuing it fill time. I was just in need of a job. But as time went by, I found myself loving and enjoying what I do.
What challenges have you faced, and what obstacles have you had to overcome, to pursue your career in the culinary field?
The biggest challenge I faced has been finding ways to make my work more efficient. Starting off, some tasks would take longer than they should, but with hard work, I continue to improve daily.
How have friends and family reacted to your career choice?
So far so good. There was a time some of my friends were skeptical, but once they saw the opportunities Snapchef has provided, their tune changed.
What do you like most about working in a professional kitchen?
I enjoy being able to see how different kitchens are ran and how they treat their employees. I also enjoy learning new methods and techniques from different cooks.
What’s your favorite comfort food?
I love mashed potatoes and white rice mixed with grave from KFC.
What is your favorite thing about working at Snapchef?
My favorite thing about working for Snapchef is the people. They are great.
What is your advice to those interested in pursuing a career in the culinary field?
Love. If you love the culinary industry go for it. If you are ready to make mistakes, work in a fast-paced environment, get dirty, laugh and spread love and add your own uniqueness and taste, this is the field for you. Do not let anything hold you back, everything is energy and having the right energy will get you far.
What are some of your other hobbies outside of cooking?
I enjoy spending time with my family, walking in nature and wondering around and observing and talking with people in the community.
