What experience in your life led to you interested in food and cooking?
I am not sure if it was luck or fate! I started at a local deli, and slowly but surely worked my way up. While at my first job the fry guy was out one day and I started up., I enjoy making food for others, and I am constantly learning.
Describe the moment when you decided that you wanted to pursue a career in the culinary field
Mother’s Day 2015. I cooked my mom a frittata cake and she loved it. She supported my decision and I have never stopped pushing myself.
What challenges have you faced – and what obstacles have you had to overcome – to purse your career in the culinary field?
Anyone that has experience working in a kitchen will tell you, multitasking is key. This is something that I am still working towards. Starting with the most important tasks and working as fast and clean as possible.
How have friends and family reacted to your career choice?
My family was surprised. I have been a professional musician for twenty years. They are supportive though.
What do you like most about working in a professional kitchen?
If I were being honest, I really love the craziness, the running around, bringing stuff out fast, the busy lines. It’s too GOOD !
What’s your favorite comfort food?
This one is easy pizza and tacos!
What is your favorite thing about working at Snapchef?
I think the traveling part is the best. It’s the biggest change from sitting around in the office or behind a counter doing retail. That’s really cool.
What is your advice to those interested in pursuing a career in the culinary field?
Just breathe. Today’s issues are never tomorrows!
