What experience in your life led to you interested in food and cooking?
Ever since I was a little kid, I have always enjoyed cooking and eating.
Describe the moment when you decided that you wanted to pursue a career in the culinary field.
Last August, I was fed up with my job. I wasn’t happy and decided it was time to make a career change to something that made me feel more accomplished.
What challenges have you faced – and what obstacles have you had to overcome – to pursue your career in the culinary field?
Mostly I have faced financial challenges. With the career change, I knew I was going to be low on money, so I had to change my living situation.
How have friends and family reacted to your career choice?
They were shocked. They couldn’t believe that I was leaving my job as a banker for three and a half years to pursue a career in the culinary field.
What do you like most about working in a professional kitchen?
The really enjoy the individualism. When you are assigned tasks, you are then left alone to do what needs to be done. It’s nice knowing that I’m responsible for my own work, that my destiny is dependent on me, and no one else.
What’s your favorite comfort food?
My go-to comfort food is cheese. I like every type of cheese except for goat and bleu.
What is your favorite thing about working at Snapchef?
Snapchef helps out by not only finding me jobs, but they also help me get to and from the jobs. They also allow for a flexible schedule for when I need days off.
What is your advice to those interested in pursuing a career in the culinary field?
Prepare to work hard and be patient. Nothing worth doing comes easy.
