Background

St. Francis House, a prominent non-profit organization in Boston known for providing vital community support and food service was in the middle of a major renovation of their commercial kitchen.  This facility is central to the organization’s mission, providing meals for an underserved population.  The renovation was aimed at modernizing the space and increasing efficiency.

The Challenge

Midway through the construction process, with occupancy permits still pending, the organization was faced with a critical staffing crisis: Their long-time Executive Chef of over 13 years resigned to pursue a new opportunity.  With the kitchen’s reopening fast approaching, the organization urgently needed assistance in securing a temporary fix to ensure a smooth transition and get through the permitting process.

Initial Engagement

Our team was contacted, and we promptly scheduled an on-site meeting on Monday morning at 8:00 am to meet with the organization’s VP of Programs, CEO and the rest of the Leadership team.  We toured the under-construction kitchen and discussed the immediate and long-term staffing needs.

The Solution

  • Securing a Temporary Executive Chef

Within the same week as our initial meeting, our CEO had personally interviewed several qualified candidates.  By the weekend, a temporary Executive Chef was identified and began work immediately, ensuring no disruption in services.

  • Placing a Permanent Executive Chef

Simultaneously, we continued vetting permanent candidates.  We quickly identified a strong contender who met all qualifications, except for an impending expiration of his ServSafe certification.  One of our Operations Managers promptly arranged testing for him, ensuring the renewal certification was completed without delay.

“St. Francis House has worked with SNAPChef previously on a role and had a great experience. When we reached out for a very urgent need for another role, their team went above and beyond to meet our needs. They provided us with personalized, hands-on support and were extremely responsive as they worked to fill our position. We were able to find more than one great candidate and had a smooth transition so that our essential services never experienced a disruption. The customer service is unmatched! We would happily work with SNAPChef for all of our food services position needs in the future!”
