What experience in your life led to you interested in food and cooking?
What really got me interested in pursuing a career in the culinary field was when I was younger and watched my mother cook in our kitchen. I would help her cook and bake. Seeing everyone’s face light up when they got their food was very rewarding.
Describe the moment when you decided that you wanted to pursue a career in the culinary field.
It was after I worked in a rehabilitation hospital kitchen and enjoyed creating items for patients who have certain diet restrictions.
What challenges have you faced – and what obstacles have you had to overcome – to purse your career in the culinary field?
Learning to do things I have never done before. I am eager to learn and help in any way, so catching on quickly is my thing.
How have friends and family reacted to your career choice?
They are very helpful and supportive to my decision. They are trying to help me get where I need to be and when I need to be there.
What do you like most about working in a professional kitchen?
The ability to work with professionals, work hands on, and being able to make food and make it pretty.
What’s your favorite comfort food?
BACON! I love oatmeal and coffee, but bacon is always #1!
What is your favorite thing about working at Snapchef?
The variety of kitchen operations, locations and people we get to work with and learn from.
What is your advice to those interested in pursuing a career in the culinary field?
Just do it and try. The worst thing you can hear is that you did it wrong, but learn from the mistakes. Another benefit is that you learn what is inside the kitchen and ingredients that are in the store in which you can learn and create in your home kitchen.
