Snapchef Supporting City of Gloucester to Showcase Sustainable Species at Seafood Expo North America

Continuing its collaboration with the Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Association, the Gloucester Fisheries Commission and SnapChef, the city of Gloucester will, for a third straight year, be a prominent exhibitor at the annual Seafood Expo North America, North America’s largest seafood exposition. Thousands of buyers and suppliers from around the world attend the annual, three-day exposition to be held at the Boston Convention Center from March 19 – 21, 2017.

The city’s strategy once again includes cooking demonstrations on Sunday and Monday featuring the Fishermen’s Wives recipe for fish cakes using sustainable seafood species hake and Pollock, at its booth named “The Gloucester Fresh Pavilion.” Snapchef, New England’s premiere temporary and permanent culinary staffing and training solution, has supported and advocated for sustainable New England seafood species since the company’s inception in 2003.

“Considering our company’s long-standing commitment to sustainable seafood, it was only natural that we’ve formed an ever-deepening collaboration with the city of Gloucester to support its efforts around social consciousness and ethical seafood consumption,” says Todd Snopkowski, founder and CEO. “We not only appreciate the ethical seafood policies of Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken and economic development director Sal Di Stefano, we’ve actively collaborated with the city and the Fisherman’s Wives Association to promote such sustainable New England species as Redfish, Silverback, Dogfish and Whiting in our work.”

The city of Gloucester recently was recognized with a $20,000 Rural Business Development Grant to support its “Gloucester Fresh” initiative and ocean-to-table supply systems. Snapchef is complimenting this effort by opening its fifth New England office in the city, at which it will provide training and well as temporary and permanent culinary staffing to out of work and retired Gloucester fishermen and the region’s food service industry.
