It’s no secret that there have been staffing shortages in the food service and hospitality industries. With “help wanted” signs plastered virtually everywhere food is sold or served, it’s been hard to miss. Many furloughed workers have not returned, forcing managers to hire and train completely new employees while remaining short to fill shifts – which has a compound effect on efficiency, service and quality. As a result, menus and hours are being reduced at many locations while wait times and dissatisfied customers are on the rise.
With schools, colleges and universities reopening – there is now another major segment of the food service industry in dire need of trained staff. Snapchef is working with educational institutions including Amherst College, Holyoke and Springfield Public Schools, Roger Williams University, Babson and more to provide qualified supplemental staff for their dining services. Many returning college and university students will also be leaving their summer gigs in roles such as dishwashers, grill cooks and servers, creating another dynamic shift and shortage in hospitality industry staffing. In addition to universities, Snapchef is busy building support teams from one to 45 that are on the Snapchef Fast Track training and career track. Consistent, skilled and qualified employees In a Snap.

It doesn’t stop there and Snapchef is going “back to school” in more ways than one. This year, Snapchef partnered with Rouxbe, the leading online culinary school to provide the tried and tested Snapchef Fast Track curriculum in an online format. The online 20 hour Fast Track Cook One course allows students to learn on their own schedule and teaches Cleaning & Sanitation, Food & Kitchen Safety, Knife Skills, Commercial Equipment Identification, Vegetable Identification and Basic Cooking Methods. Qualified Snapchef applicants are automatically entered into the SNAPapp which will send notifications to qualified employees based on skill level once our clients place orders. Once hired, employees will take our virtual orientation and eligible employees will begin the Snapchef Fast Track Career Training. The course is free for all employees and they will receive a starter kit with uniform & accessories needed to work in commercial kitchens and get immediate job placement after the course completion.
