What experience in your life led to your interest in food and cooking?
When I was a freshman in high school, I took a cooking class and I fell in love with cooking. I can also remember watching my grandmother and dad throwing it down in the kitchen.
Describe the moment when you decided that you wanted to pursue a career in the culinary field.
I have always enjoyed cooking. I cannot say that there was an exact moment, but I always enjoyed feeding others. People are always happy after they have had a good meal.
What challenges have you faced, and what obstacles have you had to overcome, to pursue your career in the culinary field?
I wanted to attend college after high school but I had my daughter and I had to wait. I wanted to support my daughter and make sure she was taken care of. So I waited to start school. I haven’t been able to go back, but it is a dream of mine to attend someday.
How have friends and family reacted to your career choice?
My family and friends have been incredibly supportive of me. They encourage and support me to follow my heart.
What do you like most about working in a professional kitchen?
I enjoy working wit others and meeting new people. I always look forward to learning new and different cooking techniques.
What’s your favorite comfort food?
This one is easy, I love fried chicken and mac and cheese.
What is your favorite thing about working at Snapchef?
I like the diversity of it. I get an opportunity to travel to different kitchens and learn from others. I am never placed in one location for too long and I am never bored.
What is your advice to those interested in pursuing a career in the culinary field?
You need to seriously love what you do and have pride in your work. Sometimes things may seem difficult but you will not learn if you don’t try.
What are some of your other hobbies outside of cooking?
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. They are the most important people in my life.
